Kakao’s fundraising for wildfire recovery surpasses 5 billion KRW, with Kakao contributing 1 billion KRW.

**Funds Used for Groceries for Wildfire Victims**

[Seoul Economic Daily] Kakao (035720) announced on the 27th that through their social contribution platform ‘Kakao Together,’ they have raised over 5 billion KRW in donations for emergency relief efforts after large wildfires in areas such as Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan. Kakao also plans to contribute an additional 1 billion KRW.

Kakao Together, in collaboration with charity organizations like the Community Chest of Korea and Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, opened an emergency fundraising campaign on the morning of the 23rd. The fundraising efforts were shared widely on various social media channels, attracting the participation of over 1.2 million people within four days.

The funds gathered from the caring contributions of participants will be used to provide essentials like water, food, blankets, and relief kits to wildfire victims. It will also support housing and livelihood aid for those who have lost their homes.

Individuals wishing to participate in the fundraising can directly donate or easily join by leaving support comments. When comments are made on the emergency fundraising page, Kakao donates 1,000 KRW per comment, and 100 KRW is donated for comments on individual fundraising pages.

Kakao has been committed to humanitarian support and fulfilling social responsibilities in both domestic and international disaster situations. According to Kakao, the cumulative donations have reached approximately 81.2 billion KRW, with over 18,950 fundraising efforts conducted. In 2022, they raised more than 2.2 billion KRW and 2.6 billion KRW for flood damage recovery and East Coast wildfire relief, respectively. In February 2023, they raised approximately 4.8 billion KRW for earthquake relief in the Syria-Turkey region, and more than 2.2 billion KRW for wildfire relief in Gangneung in April of the same year.
