Kakao Developers as Mentors… Recruiting 120 Participants for the 3rd ‘KakaoTech Campus’

Kakao is recruiting 120 participants for the third session of its regional IT talent development program, the “Kakao Tech Campus.” The company announced on the 17th that it has signed a business agreement with five regional hub universities: Kangwon National University, Kyungpook National University, Pusan National University, Jeonnam National University, and Chungnam National University to operate this program.

The Kakao Tech Campus, part of Kakao’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiative for cultivating regional developers, has been ongoing since 2023. The entire program is conducted online, allowing participants to balance it with their academic studies. It is also offered as an official university course through industry-academia cooperation.

The third session will accept a total of 120 participants, regardless of their major. This year, students from the satellite campuses of the participating universities will also have the opportunity to join, increasing access to education.

Applications will be accepted from March 4 to 18, with the educational program running from April to November over eight months. The program consists of three stages, from learning basic skills to conducting clone projects and developing actual web services. Participants can choose between front-end and back-end tracks.

To enhance the practical skills of university students, active developers from within Kakao Group will participate as mentors in this session. They will provide code reviews and technical mentoring, allowing students to learn firsthand from Kakao developers.

Lee Young-hoon, head of Kakao Group’s personnel team, stated, “We will continue to nurture future developers with competitive skills in a rapidly changing technological environment.”
