iPhone 15, Best-Selling in Q3 This Year… “Samsung Has a High Proportion in Top 10”

“In the third quarter of this year, the smartphone market was led by the ‘iPhone 15’ as the best-selling phone,” according to Counterpoint Research. On the 11th (local time), market research firm Counterpoint Research reported that Apple’s basic iPhone 15 model was the most sold smartphone model in the third quarter of this year.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max took the second place, and the iPhone 15 Pro took the third, making the top three models all from the iPhone 15 series. The previous model, the iPhone 14, ranked eighth.

From fourth to seventh places, Samsung’s Galaxy A series claimed the spots. The Galaxy A14 4G and 5G models respectively took fourth and fifth places, while the Galaxy A35 5G was in sixth, and the Galaxy A05 series ranked seventh.

The Redmi 13C 4G ranked ninth, demonstrating Xiaomi’s presence in the top ten list.

One of Samsung’s flagship models, the Galaxy S24, successfully entered the top ten for the third consecutive quarter. It’s the first time since 2018 that the Galaxy S series made it to the top ten in the third quarter. Marketing strategies highlighting Galaxy AI (Artificial Intelligence) features are considered to have been effective.

Compared to a slight decline in Apple’s top ten share, Samsung’s share increased. Samsung had five models in the top ten, one more than Apple.

However, while Samsung sells a large quantity of budget models, half of Apple’s iPhone sales come from pro models, resulting in a higher average selling price (ASP).

Counterpoint Research stated, “Consumers in emerging markets choosing the latest iPhone are contributing to Apple’s sales of high-end phones,” adding that “Apple and Samsung are expected to continue strengthening their premium positioning and maintain high ranks by leveraging Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI.”
