According to reports, Apple is planning to release a foldable iPhone with the largest battery capacity ever in 2026. A Korean IT tipster has revealed that Apple is testing batteries with capacities between 5400mAh and 5800mAh for their upcoming foldable iPhone. This would surpass the battery capacity of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 by over 25% and would also be more than 10% larger compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 5088mAh battery.
The large battery capacity is expected to enhance the utility of the foldable phone, which reportedly features a 7.8-inch main display. Other expected features of the foldable iPhone include a 5.5-inch external display, Touch ID, an eSIM-only model, and Apple’s own C2 modem.
Additionally, reports suggest that Apple will revamp its product launch strategy with the release of the foldable iPhone in 2026, moving to a biannual release schedule. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple intends to release premium products like the foldable iPhone, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max in the fall of 2026, followed by the launch of iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in the spring of 2027. This approach is expected to meet market demands by offering budget-friendly products in the first half of the year and premium products in the latter half, potentially balancing out revenue fluctuations across different quarters.
