Cheezi, who has turned one year old, surpasses 2.5 million MAU: “Next year, we will focus on enhancing revenue generation for streamers.”

Naver’s streaming service, Chijijik, recently celebrated its 1st anniversary with a briefing session. Since its launch, the service has surpassed 2.5 million monthly active users (MAU) and plans to further enhance streamer income diversification and content support next year.

Chijijik began its journey in December last year, initially opening in beta in February, followed by the official launch in May. The service has steadily grown, achieving 2.5 million MAU and 148 partner streamers by November. Over the past year, it recorded a total of 4.82 million broadcast streams.

At the briefing, key achievements were highlighted, including By-pass streaming for improved viewing quality, Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology leveraging streamer voices, quick access to replays, and its unique features like Drops. Additionally, its integration with other Naver services like Clips and Naver Pay contributed significantly to its growth. The Clips service, introduced in May, became essential for exploring streamers, with usage increasing by 82% and 74% respectively as of November.

Chijijik also secured exclusive rights to broadcast esports content like the 2024 LoL KeSPA Cup, along with other sports and animation content, which further attracted user traffic.

Looking ahead, Chijijik aims to diversify streamer revenue and enhance creative content endeavors by linking streamer channels with Smart Stores for merchandise sales and revising subscription benefits to increase 2-tier subscriber recognition. The platform will also expand its content creation support program, allowing streamers to propose projects up to six times a year, with potential support of up to 120 million KRW annually.

The initiative extends to support virtual streamers and hosting official game tournaments under the Chijijik title. Kim Jeong-mi, the leader of Naver Chijijik, expressed commitment to elevating the streaming experience and fostering an environment that supports both streamers and users, aiming to offer an enjoyable streaming experience for all.
