Broadcasting and Communication Commission to Invest 13.7 Billion Won in AI-Based Broadcasting and Media Technology Innovation

The Broadcasting Media Communication Committee announced that it has established plans for an AI-based broadcasting and media research and development project, which will have an investment of 13.76 billion KRW this year, and has started accepting applications for new support projects.

The project comprises two main areas: the development of digital media innovative technologies and programmable media technologies, encompassing a total of 12 tasks.

This year, 9.56 billion KRW will be invested in developing technologies that apply AI to the entire process of broadcasting and media content production to reduce costs and enhance quality.

Technology to plan, produce, and edit broadcasting content using AI conversational methods will be developed, allowing multiple producers to edit content in real time simultaneously.

An investment of 5.86 billion KRW will support the development of AI-based special effects generation technology and technology to digitally convert and reconfigure people and objects within videos.

Additionally, 4.2 billion KRW will be invested this year in developing personalized media platform technology that analyzes users’ viewing histories and content characteristics.
