On the 2nd anniversary of his inauguration, President Yoon Suk-yeol met with citizens at Cheonggyecheon. The day before, at the ‘Yoon Suk-yeol Government 2-Year National Report and Press Conference,’ he emphasized enhanced communication and a commitment to people-centered governance and subsequently engaged in activities focused on livelihoods and communication.
President Yoon visited Cheonggyecheon in Seoul to meet with citizens who were on a walk after work. The President shared greetings with the citizens and stated, “I will do my best to ensure that people can feel stable prices,” as reported by the presidential office.
During the press conference marking his 2nd anniversary in office, President Yoon acknowledged insufficient communication with the public as a cause for the ruling party’s defeat in the general election and promised to strengthen communication. He expressed the need for a government that communicates more and listens more to the voices of the people regarding livelihood issues.
In response to questions about prices, President Yoon promised to mobilize all government resources to stabilize the cost of the market basket and dining out.
President Yoon’s walk along Cheonggyecheon was his second since taking office. Previously, in June 2022, in his first year of inauguration, President Yoon had a dinner with his staff at a pizza restaurant in Jongno-gu and then walked along Cheonggyecheon. His actions were described as a “non-political president’s unconventional behavior.”President Yoon returned to Cheonggyecheon after about 2 years.
