“Fake news poses a threat to liberal democracy”

[Herald Economy, Reporter Seo Jung-eun] On the 17th, President Yoon Suk-yeol stated, “The four major reforms of pension, labor, education, and healthcare are critical tasks for the sustainable development of the nation,” adding, “Despite significant resistance and challenges, we will ensure their completion.”
President Yoon attended the ‘2024 National Members’ Convention of the Movement for Upright Living’ in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, and said, “We will work to further invigorate our economy and ensure that the benefits of growth reach every corner of people’s lives.”
He also promised, “We will strongly push for welfare for the underprivileged to warmly look after the lives of those in difficult circumstances.”
President Yoon noted, “We are at a crucial point of great transformation,” stating, “With advancements in cutting-edge technologies like AI, we face both opportunities and challenges, ongoing provocations and threats from North Korea, and global complex crises that threaten security and the economy.”
He continued, “In addition to societal challenges like the demographic crisis, the constant production of fake news is threatening liberal democracy,” emphasizing the importance of the Movement for Upright Living’s core principles of truth, order, and harmony more than ever.
The Movement for Upright Living is a national civic movement organization that practices the three core principles of truth, order, and harmony. It was established in 1989 and is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. President Yoon conducted a “Performance for a Free and Prosperous South Korea” with 8,000 members in attendance at the event.
