Kim Yo-jong, the Deputy Director of the Workers’ Party of Korea, was seen attending a New Year’s event holding the hands of children, sparking interest in the identity of these children.
Yesterday (the 2nd), North Korea’s Korean Central Television broadcast a recorded video of a New Year’s celebration performance.
In the video, Kim Yo-jong is seen entering the stadium holding hands side by side with a girl and a boy, who are estimated to be elementary school-aged.
Given that other officials attended with their families, there is speculation that these children might be Kim Yo-jong’s offspring.
A representative from the Ministry of Unification also commented that it is “a very unusual scene for Kim Yo-jong to bring children to an official event.”
So far, there has been no news regarding Kim Yo-jong’s husband or children in North Korean media.
However, the National Intelligence Service reported to the National Assembly Intelligence Committee in April 2015 that Kim Yo-jong was expected to give birth in May of the same year.
