The “Yoo” party has launched a task force to respond to politically-motivated indictments by the prosecution, stating that it aims to bring about self-reflection within the prosecution.

TF Head Han Jun-ho and Deputy Heads Kim Yong-min, Choi Ki-sang, “The Democratic Party has launched a ‘Political Prosecution Manipulation Indictment Response Task Force (TF)’ to investigate the truth behind the indictment cases involving President Lee Jae-myung, such as the North Korea remittance allegations and the Daejang-dong scandal.”

At the launch ceremony for the ‘Political Prosecution Manipulation Indictment Response TF’ held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the morning of the 7th, Kim Byeong-gi, acting party leader and floor leader, stated, “We believe that the TF will lead to the prosecution’s self-reflection and closing of unresolved issues, paving the way for prosecution reform. The Democratic Party is determined to put an end to the dark history of political prosecutions.”

According to TF spokesperson Lee Keon-tae, the TF will investigate cases suspected of manipulation by the prosecution, including the Daejang-dong case, the Ssangbangwool North Korea remittance case, the Kim Yong Democratic Research Institute Deputy Director case, and the Alpensia bid-rigging case. Han Jun-ho, a senior committee member, is the TF’s head, with Deputy Heads Kim Yong-min and Choi Ki-sang, and committee members Kim Ki-pyo, Park Seon-won, Yang Bu-nam, and Lee Geon-tae.

TF Head Han Jun-ho remarked, “It has been a month since the Lee Jae-myung administration took office, and discussions have begun on how forced the political prosecution’s indictments have been in this short period.” He continued, “As Ssangbangwool North Korea remittance figures reveal the truth, it is confirmed that it is unrelated to President Lee Jae-myung.” He added, “The TF will firmly respond to those with connections to political prosecutors.”

The ‘Political Prosecution Manipulation Indictment Response TF’ is separate from the ‘Prosecution Reform TF,’ which discusses prosecution reform bills. Before the launch ceremony, Moon Jin-seok, the Democratic Party’s Deputy Chief of Floor Operations, mentioned to reporters, “The Prosecution Reform TF is created to swiftly pursue reform as pledged by the floor leader, discussing reform plans such as separating prosecution and indictment powers closely with government departments.”
