“In the midst of deepening internal conflicts within the Reform New Party, separate Supreme Council meetings were held by factions led by Representative Heo Eun-ah and Floor Leader Chun Ha-ram.
Today (the 22nd), Floor Leader Chun Ha-ram, Policy Committee Chair Lee Joo-young, and Supreme Council Member Jeon Sung-kyun held a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, announcing that they would conduct a party member recall vote against Representative Heo Eun-ah and Supreme Council Member Cho Dae-won.
The voting is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. on the 24th to 6 p.m. on the 25th using the K-Voting system of the National Election Commission.
Floor Leader Chun stated, ‘Those targeted for party member recall should not claim their authority to block or delay the recall process. They must humbly follow the democratic decision of the party members.’
Yesterday, a formal request was sent to Representative Heo and Supreme Council Member Cho, asking them to submit a statement of explanation related to the party member recall system by the 23rd.
Simultaneously, Representative Heo Eun-ah, Supreme Council Member Cho Dae-won, and Policy Committee Chair Jung Sung-young held their own Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly.
In the meeting, Representative Heo stated, ‘An unprecedented incident has occurred where someone falsely claims to act as the interim party leader. There is no basis in our party’s constitution and bylaws for the Supreme Council to suspend the authority of the party leader.’
Following the meeting, Representative Heo appointed former spokesperson Jo Yong-jin as a designated Supreme Council member, Ryu Sung-ho, the deputy chief of strategic planning, as Secretary-General, and Choi In-chul, special advisor for organization, as Deputy Chief for Organization.
Representative Heo plans to take legal action, including an application for suspension of effect, in regard to the party member recall system being pursued by Floor Leader Chun and others.
