The Presidential Office: “We are prepared to respond well to any outcome of the US presidential election.”

On the 5th, a senior official from the Presidential Office stated, “Regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election, our government is already prepared to respond appropriately.”

This official, speaking with reporters at the Yongsan Presidential Office, remarked, “Depending on the results of the US election, the situation with the US, China, Russia, the European Union (EU), as well as Korea and Japan, is likely to change significantly and will greatly impact future political developments.”

Regarding North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia, the official said, “North Korea has dispatched troops, and consequently, we need to respond accordingly,” also noting, “There have been reports of North Korean military casualties.”

Furthermore, they commented, “The war itself may have influenced the US presidential election, and the US election results could impact the war in Ukraine, as well as affect the situation on the Korean Peninsula.”

The general vote for electing the 47th President of the United States is scheduled to begin on November 5th at 12:00 AM local time (2:00 PM Korean time) and will be conducted sequentially across the country.
