The People Power Party urges Acting Minister Choi Sang-mok to carry out appointments of ministers and public officials.

The People Power Party has urged Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, to exercise personnel authority over the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of Public Administration and Security to stabilize the government.

Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong stated at a high-level party-government meeting for emergency economic stabilization held today (8th) at the National Assembly, “In the midst of the impeachment situation, the inertia among public officials is becoming more severe day by day,” adding, “I believe that personnel management is the only way to resolve this stagnation among public officials.”

He further addressed Acting President Choi, saying, “The Minister of National Defense, who is the head of security, is vacant, and the Minister of Public Administration and Security, who is the head of law enforcement, is also vacant,” urging him to prevent the inertia of public officials through personnel appointments in ministries beyond ministerial appointments.

He also added, “Please create an environment that encourages vibrant job performance in the government.”

Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Young-se also stated, “I hope public officials are encouraged not to remain stagnant and that routine or essential personnel actions proceed normally,” emphasizing, “It is crucial to prevent political chaos from spreading to the economy and administration.”

He continued, “The government must maintain its balance in these times,” adding, “The ruling party will act as a firewall. The party will make extraordinary efforts to communicate more closely with the government and take care of people’s livelihoods.”
