The People Power Party has confirmed its stance against the opposition’s special prosecutor request by opting for a special inspector general as their party line.

A proposal suggested by Representative Han Dong-hoon during a meeting with the President was reiterated at today’s party general assembly, with no opposition from pro-Yoon members.

“Without a vote, our party leader spoke, and I presented the situation and proposal. All members agreed with applause.”

Simultaneously with the special inspector promotion, the party has decided to formally suggest that the President veto the opposition’s special prosecutor bill concerning Kim Keon-hee.

Representative Han Dong-hoon attended the general assembly, advocating for the introduction of the special inspector system, saying, “Let’s prove we’re a better political force than the Democratic Party.” He highlighted Floor Leader Chu’s characteristic drive to persuade the lawmakers.

Calls for unity, such as “Bury the hatchet, join or die,” were reportedly voiced.

Following the President’s press conference, there was consensus among pro-Yoon members to accept the special inspector.

The cooperation of the opposition is crucial.

The special inspector general is appointed by the President from three candidates recommended by the National Assembly. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party, asserting that a special prosecutor is necessary instead of a special inspector, remains hesitant to make recommendations.

“The Democratic Party says ‘A special inspector is no big deal and won’t suffice.’ I want to ask why they didn’t implement it during the past five years if it’s so insignificant.”

The People Power Party is now entering negotiations with the opposition to recommend candidates for the special inspector.
