The National Human Rights Commission of Korea decided to increase the meal expense limit allowed under the Anti-Corruption Law from the existing 30,000 won to 50,000 won.
The commission held a plenary meeting yesterday (22nd) and made this decision, and plans to announce the draft amendment to the Anti-Corruption Law enforcement decree as soon as tomorrow (23rd).
If the amendment passes the State Council, the amount that public officials can receive for meals related to their duties will rise from 30,000 won to 50,000 won.
The Anti-Corruption Law, now in its 8th year of implementation, has been criticized for not reflecting the inflation rate due to the lack of adjustment in meal and gift limits.
The commission also discussed today the proposal to increase the permissible value of agricultural and fishery product gifts from the current 150,000 won to 300,000 won, but did not reach a conclusion.
