The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and Daejeon City sign an agreement to establish the “Daejeon Veterans Complex Cultural Center.”

The government is set to invest a total of 120.4 billion KRW, which includes 41.1 billion KRW from national funds and 79.3 billion KRW from city funds. If the preliminary feasibility study is passed, administrative procedures will be executed in 2026, aiming for completion in 2029.

On the 26th, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and Daejeon City will sign a business agreement to establish the Daejeon Patriotic Complex Cultural Center and promote patriotic culture.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 25th that Minister Kang Jung-ae and Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo will participate in the agreement signing on the 26th. The aim is to join forces to create a complex cultural center where anyone can experience and learn the meaning and value of patriotism.

The Daejeon Patriotic Complex Cultural Center will be constructed by both institutions at a total cost of 120.4 billion KRW, with national and city funds, at the National Cemetery in Daejeon and the area surrounding Hyunchoongwon Station. The center will feature a basement level and two floors above ground, covering a total floor area of 12,805 square meters.

The center is planned to include exhibitions and experiences related to the heroic figures and history of independence in the Chungcheong region, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences of the Korean War’s Daejeon battles, youth educational facilities, convention spaces, and convenience facilities.

Following the agreement, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will support with national funding and patriotic culture content, while Daejeon City will handle site preparation, city fund allocations, and the creation of patriotic culture content, potentially operating consultation bodies when necessary.

Recently, the Ministry applied for a preliminary feasibility study with the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the cultural center’s establishment. If approved, the project will begin in earnest from 2026 with land compensation and administrative procedures and is expected to be completed by 2029.

Minister Kang Jung-ae emphasized the goal of making the Daejeon Patriotic Complex Cultural Center a key patriotic site for all citizens to visit, remember, experience, and learn about the dedication to the nation, committing to the meticulous creation of this complex cultural facility.
