During a briefing on the 21st, Jeon Ha-kyu, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, said, “North Korea’s involvement in Russia’s invasion war is a violation of UN resolutions and an illegal act that should be condemned by the international community.” He added, “This is an act that seriously threatens our national security and the safety of our citizens.”

He further stated, “We strongly warn North Korea to stop their actions immediately,” and added, “Our military will take necessary measures to protect the safety of our citizens.”

In response to a question about whether they would supply lethal weapons to Ukraine, he stated, “We are open to various possibilities and will monitor related trends,” adding that “discussions will be held at the governmental level together with the Ministry of Defense to review and take necessary measures.”

Regarding a claim by the National Intelligence Service on the 18th about the deployment of North Korean combat troops, which NATO and the U.S. do not officially recognize, the spokesperson stated, “As far as I know, the relevant details have been shared and coordinated with the U.S. before being disclosed by the National Intelligence Service or the Presidential Office.”
