“In a policy meeting held at the National Assembly today (10th), Park Chan-dae, acting representative and floor leader of the Democratic Party, stated, ‘President Lee Jae-myung has instructed a swift formulation of the supplementary budget,’ and added, ‘We will embark on compiling a supplementary budget of at least 20 trillion won to stimulate domestic demand and support self-employed individuals and small business owners.'”
“He further explained, ‘We will prepare economic stimulus measures that citizens can feel, such as providing livelihood recovery support funds through local currency, to revive the economy.'”
“The Democratic Party emphasized that the supplementary budget proposal must pass the National Assembly within this month.”
“Policy Committee Chairman Jin Sung-jun stated, ‘As long as financial resources are available, the larger the supplementary budget, the better,’ and urged the government to hasten its preparations so that the budget proposal can be processed during the June extraordinary session of the National Assembly.”
“In particular, he emphasized, ‘Compensation for losses suffered by small business owners due to civil unrest and aviation disasters should be actively considered,’ and vowed that ‘the National Assembly will support this through relevant legal amendments.'”
“Additionally, the Democratic Party urged the government for budget allocations to support industrial crisis regions, such as the petrochemical and steel industries, and for additional funds to support its ‘Four Major Livelihood Recovery Packages,’ which include nationwide consumer coupons and local currency discounts to aid livelihood recovery.”
