The Democratic Party of Korea welcomed the court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Kim Keon-hee, the spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. They described it as a “foregone conclusion and a signal for the normalization of the state.” Chief spokesperson Park Soo-hyun expressed in a written briefing that the court’s reasonable decision is welcomed by the public, highlighting that Kim had no way to escape the charges related to stock manipulation of Deutsch Motors or allegations of election interference and bribery.
Park criticized Kim’s claim of being a “nobody,” calling her a central figure in the alleged misconduct of Yoon’s administration, and pointed out that there are up to 16 allegations involving her. He stated that expecting to evade justice just because of her status as a former president’s wife was a misunderstanding. Park emphasized the necessity of fully revealing and punishing any misconduct to ensure that no one can abuse power for corruption again. He urged for a thorough investigation and swift prosecution to uncover the truth behind the allegations surrounding Kim.
