“Democratic Party is considering postponing the reconsideration of the ‘Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,’ initially scheduled to be voted on in the plenary session on the 28th,” said spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung.
Kang spoke with reporters after the party’s strategy meeting, stating, “It has not been decided whether the vote on the Special Prosecutor Act will take place in the plenary session on the 28th. The timing may be delayed, but the party’s stance remains undecided.”
She added, “With internal divisions in the ruling party becoming evident due to issues like the party members’ board, there are opinions that we might expect organized defections. Regardless of the ruling party’s situation, there is also the view that the suspicions surrounding Ms. Kim should be resolved through a special prosecutor.”
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party plans to proceed as scheduled with the plenary session on the 28th to pass the amendment that excludes the ruling party when recommending permanent special prosecutor candidates. Additionally, they aim to report the impeachment motion against three prosecutors, including Chief Prosecutor Lee Chang-soo, who dismissed the case of Kim’s alleged involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation, in the session the following day.
