Shin Pyeong: “Han Dong-hoon Throws Integrity Away Like an Old Shoe”
Shin Ji-ho: “Shin Pyeong Is Acting Rashly… The Presidential Office Needs to Clarify Its Stance to Dispel Misunderstandings”
[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Ha Ji-hyun – Shin Ji-ho, Deputy Chief of Strategic Planning for the People Power Party, argued on the 1st that the Presidential Office should express its position regarding Lawyer Shin Pyeong’s call for Han Dong-hoon to resign from the party representative position with claims that he “throws away integrity like an old shoe.”
Shin Ji-ho, who is associated with the pro-Han Dong-hoon faction, wrote on his Facebook that day, “I am not sure about the specific relationship between Shin Pyeong and the President, but he constantly uses the President’s name,” adding, “He is acting rashly again.”
Previously, Shin Pyeong had posted on his Facebook stating, “After the last general election, the Lee Jae-myung side, who achieved a sweeping victory, asked that it be communicated to the Presidential Office that they were willing to cooperate in forming a coalition cabinet.” He also wrote, “Lee Jae-myung is someone who knows how to show recognition and uphold integrity to some extent, unlike Han Dong-hoon, who throws away integrity like an old shoe.”
Furthermore, Shin Pyeong said, “If Han Dong-hoon clings to the party leadership and refuses to step down, the division within the conservatives will never be resolved,” and continued, “Naturally, the 2027 presidential election will end in a crushing defeat similar to the general elections, potentially leading to a ‘second collapse of conservatism.’ The likelihood of long-term single-party rule by the Democratic Party becoming a reality is very high.”
In response, Shin Ji-ho commented, “The Presidential Office has previously issued a warning regarding his actions. Shin Pyeong made a bombshell statement in a radio interview on August 3rd last year, claiming ‘President Yoon feels the People Power Party is no longer viable and is considering establishing a new party.’ However, Kim Eun-hye, the Senior Secretary for Public Relations at the Presidential Office, stated the very next day, ‘The President has not discussed any national or political matters with Shin Pyeong since taking office’ and warned against making absurd statements that could confuse the public.”
Additionally, Shin Ji-ho dismissed Shin Pyeong’s claim as “an absurd story” regarding his self-proclaimed title as the President’s mentor, and urged, “He is once again acting recklessly, trying to exploit the discord between Yoon and Han. To dispel unnecessary misunderstandings among the public, the Presidential Office should make a statement.”
