Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated on the 5th that he would strive harder to ensure that the fruits of growth are swiftly disseminated among the public, creating tangible changes in people’s lives. This was said during his remarks at the 47th Cabinet meeting held at the Government Complex in Seoul. He acknowledged the need to further reflect on the criticism from the public with humility and emphasized the importance of adapting and committing to achieving governmental outcomes without distractions amidst political uncertainties.
He also highlighted the challenges faced by public officials during parliamentary audits and stressed the need for cooperation with the National Assembly to alleviate burdens on officials while ensuring parliamentary checks on the administration are conducted effectively. Furthermore, Han called for bipartisan support and cooperation from the National Assembly, stressing the importance of passing the next year’s budget and pending livelihood and economic bills by the legal deadlines to alleviate the economic pressures on citizens.
Additionally, Han noted the significance of the upcoming U.S. presidential election and the need for thorough communication between Korean ministries and their counterparts in the new U.S. administration to analyze and prepare for any policy shifts that may impact Korea. He also underscored the importance of thorough preparations for the 2025 national college entrance exam, urging related departments to ensure smooth conduct of the exams, covering aspects such as test center safety, document security, and the prevention of cheating.
