President Yoon’s possibility of fleeing questioned, head of the Corruption Investigation Office says “Yes… Considering various possibilities”

Odong-woon, the head of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, stated that he has “not been accurately informed” regarding the allegations of President Yoon Seok-youl’s evasion. On the 7th, Odong-woon attended the plenary meeting of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, where he made this remark while answering related questions.

When Rep. Park Beom-gye from the Democratic Party asked if President Yoon was at his residence, Odong-woon replied, “I have not been accurately informed about such matters.” When further questioned about the possibility of the president having fled, he said, “We are considering various possibilities, and it’s difficult to discuss details as it pertains to an ongoing investigation.”

When asked again if hiding or fleeing was one of the possibilities being considered, Odong-woon answered, “Yes.” Kim Yong-min, another Democratic Party member, inquired if any facts had been established regarding the allegation of President Yoon’s evasion, to which Odong-woon responded, “I have not been accurately briefed on that, although I’ve heard something about a vehicle.”

In response to whether President Yoon could be arrested if he left his official residence and hid in another government building, Odong-woon said, “I have received reports on such matters, and we plan to execute the warrant after comprehensive consideration.”

Regarding the criticism that the search warrant is limited to the official residence despite being aware of the escape scenario, suggesting incompetence on the part of the head of the investigation office, he replied, “I will keep that in mind.”
