The approval rating of President Yoon Seok-yeol has recorded in the early 30% range for six consecutive weeks, according to a survey released on the 20th.
According to a survey conducted by Real Meter on behalf of Energy Economy from the 13th to the 17th of last month on 2,002 eligible voters aged 18 and older nationwide (with a sample error of ±2.2 points at a 95% confidence level), President Yoon’s positive performance rating on national affairs was measured at 31.4%. This is a 0.8% increase from the previous week’s survey results.
President Yoon’s approval rating has continued to hover in the early 30% range, with figures of 32.6% → 32.3% → 30.2% → 30.3% → 30.6% → 31.4% since recording 37.3% in the first week of April.
The negative evaluation decreased by 1.1 point from the previous week to 65.5%.
Regional breakdown shows support for President Yoon increased in Seoul (up 6.1%), Gwangju/Jeolla (up 2.9%), and Incheon/Gyeonggi (up 2.5%), while it decreased in Daejeon/Sejong/Chungcheong (down 5.1%) and Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam (down 4.6%).
By age group, support increased among those in their 40s (up 5.4%), those aged 70 and older (up 2.8%), people in their 20s (up 2.4%), and those in their 30s (up 1.6%), but decreased in the 60s (down 5.3%) and 50s (down 1.5%).
In terms of ideological tendencies, support increased among moderates (up 2.9%) and progressives (up 2.0%) but decreased among conservatives (down 5.0%).
A survey on party support conducted on the 16th and 17th of last month on 1,001 eligible voters aged 18 and older nationwide (with a sample error of ±3.1 points at a 95% confidence level) found that the approval ratings for the People Power Party and the Democratic Party were 35.0% and 34.5%, respectively.
Compared to the previous week, the People Power Party saw a 2.1% increase, while the Democratic Party experienced a 6.1% decrease.
The People Power Party’s support increased in Incheon/Gyeonggi (up 5.2%), Daegu/Gyeongbuk (up 4.3%), and Seoul (up 4.1%), but decreased in Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam (down 2.2%) and Gwangju/Jeolla (down 5.8%). Support increased among those aged 70 and older (up 5.3%), those in their 50s (up 4.8%), those in their 40s (up 4.4%), and those in their 20s (up 3.5%), while it decreased among those in their 30s (down 4.9%).
The Democratic Party saw an increase in support only in Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam (up 2.3%), while it decreased in all other regions. Support for the party decreased across all age groups and ideological tendencies.
Other party support percentages were as follows: Justice Party 13.5%, Reform Party 5.3%, New Future Party 1.3%, Progressive Party 1.3%, and other parties 2.2%. The non-affiliated group was surveyed at 6.8%.
