President Lee stated, “As soon as the supplementary budget is passed, it will be executed in the shortest possible time… We will make thorough advance preparations.”

“Middle East Crisis, an Opportunity to Become a Renewable Energy Powerhouse,” Lee Jae-myung, President, called for efficient execution of the supplemental budget passed immediately after the war, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation beforehand. During the 14th Cabinet Meeting and the 4th Emergency Economic Inspection Meeting held at the Blue House, the President highlighted the impact of the prolonged Middle East conflict on the domestic economy and urged for efforts to address the plight of vulnerable populations while also restructuring the economy to mitigate external and geopolitical risks. He pointed out the need to diversify energy sources away from reliance on specific regions and transition quickly from fossil fuels to renewables. He further noted that just as the IMF financial crisis led to South Korea’s rise as an IT powerhouse, the current Middle East crisis should be leveraged as a chance to advance towards becoming a leader in renewable energy, urging relevant ministries to accelerate efforts in diversifying energy supplies and focusing on renewable energy transformation.
