[Seoul Economy] The positive evaluation of President Lee Jae-myung’s job performance has fallen below 60%. According to a survey conducted by the polling agency Research View from the 29th to the 31st of last month, targeting 1,000 adults nationwide aged 18 and over, 59.4% of the respondents rated the president’s job performance as ‘good.’ Negative evaluations stood at 36.8%.
This marks a 1.7 percentage point drop in positive evaluations compared to the survey results from June 28-30, where the positive evaluation was at 61.1% and the negative evaluation at 34.1%. Negative evaluations have increased by 2.7 percentage points.
The decline in approval is analyzed to have been influenced by recent personnel issues such as the withdrawal of Kang Seon-woo, the former Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee.
In the political community, there is speculation that the currently ongoing Korea-US customs negotiations could act as an additional variable affecting the president’s approval ratings in the future. It is anticipated that public opinion could change depending on the outcomes of these negotiations.
The survey was conducted using an automated response system (ARS), with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 2.2%.
