President Lee is meeting with director Maggie Kang of ‘K-Dragon’ and TWICE to discuss the vision of K-pop.

President Lee Jae-myung is seen speaking at the 37th Cabinet meeting held at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul on the 18th. In related news, President Lee is set to meet with Megan Kang, the director of the trending Netflix animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” along with TWICE members Jihyo and Jeongyeon, to discuss the future of K-Pop.

The presidential office announced on the 19th that President Lee will appear on a special program “K-Pop: The Next Chapter,” which will air on Arirang International Broadcasting on the 20th. During the program, they will discuss the current state and future vision of K-Pop, which has sparked a global craze.

The program will feature Megan Kang, director of “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” TWICE members Jihyo and Jeongyeon, producer R.Tee, known for participating in numerous music projects, and critic Kim Young-dae, who has been analyzing trends and phenomena in the music industry.

This program aims to provide a platform for industry stakeholders to reflect on the global status K-Pop has achieved and the expansion possibilities and new opportunities demonstrated by global content. It seeks to share visions and ideas for taking K-Pop to the next level.

The presidential office stated, “For our country to reinstate itself as a cultural powerhouse among the top five soft power nations, continuous growth and innovation of cultural industries, including K-Pop, are necessary. The insights and voices from the field shared through this program will be utilized for setting future policy directions.”

Previously, during his opening remarks at the first Eulji Cabinet meeting on the 18th, President Lee mentioned “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” stating, “If peace is the foundation of economic stability, K-Culture is a new driving force for enhancing national power.”

He added, “We must further accelerate the journey towards becoming a K-cultural powerhouse,” emphasizing that “government bodies should establish comprehensive measures, including strategic support for the global expansion of K-Culture and infrastructure expansion related to K-Pop, based on the ‘arms-length principle,’ which supports without interfering.”
