On the 25th, Democratic Party lawmaker Park Jie-won commented on recent calls within some political circles for a parliamentary system constitutional amendment or national unity government, asserting that these are conspiracies to extend President Yoon Seok-yeol’s term and regain power.

During an appearance on the YouTube channel “Kim Eo-jun’s News Factory,” Park stated, “Those discussing a national unity government talk about who should be the prime minister, and I have also received such a proposal.”

Park claimed that after the ‘December 3 Martial Law Incident,’ he received an offer for the prime minister position of a national unity government from someone close to President Yoon, but he declined it. He explained, “I said, ‘Didn’t former President Kim Dae-jung refuse the three-party merger? How can I, as his former chief secretary, entertain such a discussion?’ and I struck the table in the VIP room of the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong and left.”

He added, “I suppose the proposal was made to me because I had strongly advocated for constitutional amendments before the martial law incident.”

Park further emphasized, “Ultimately, the proposal for constitutional amendments and a national unity government is a conspiracy to extend the term of Yoon Seok-yeol, the head of the insurrection and treason.”

He noted, “There are people within the Democratic Party who have previously advocated for a four-year double term presidency or a national unity government, and their strategy seems to be bringing these people in to push for such amendments and form a national unity government. Our citizens need to remain vigilant to prevent this.”

Finally, he stressed, “The current spirit of the times and public demand is to promptly arrest and isolate Yoon Seok-yeol, the leader of insurrection and treason. Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo should expedite the appointment of constitutional court justice nominees to establish the court with nine members to achieve this quickly.”
