**North Korea Conducts Strategic Cruise Missile Launch Exercise in the West Sea**

North Korea conducted a strategic cruise missile launch exercise on the morning of the 26th, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on the 28th. The agency reported that Chairman Kim Jong-un observed the exercise.

During the exercise, multiple strategic cruise missiles were launched, as inferred from the KCNA report. The missiles reportedly flew in elliptical orbits, hitting targets successfully after flying for approximately 7,961 and 7,973 seconds respectively, covering a distance of 1,587 kilometers.

Chairman Kim expressed satisfaction with the results of the exercise, emphasizing the importance of continuously testing the reliability and operational capability of the nuclear deterrent components and showcasing their power as responsible acts of war deterrence.

He further stated that a deterrence and defense capability backed by strong offensive power is the most complete, highlighting the responsibility of North Korea’s nuclear forces to firmly prepare for combat readiness and to always be ready for use, thus serving as a reliable nuclear shield to perpetually safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and safety.

The exercise was reportedly attended by senior military figures, including Kim Jong-sik, a member of the Workers’ Party Central Military Commission, and Jang Chang-ha, Director of the Missile General Bureau.

Photos from the event showed the missile flying at low altitude over water, striking and exploding upon hitting a low-rise building on a hill.

On the 26th of the previous month, North Korea test-launched a sea-to-ground strategic cruise missile. This test was the first weapon system trial conducted since the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
