Na Kyung-won: “Han Dong-hoon has an immature sense of justice… Inappropriate as a People Power Party candidate.”

“Han Duk-soo Should Focus on Customs Issues”: Criticism
“Lee Drum Can” Protest: “It Seems It Was Painful”

National Power Party presidential candidate Na Kyung-won said on the 15th, “I will never succumb even if I have to go into a drum can.” On this day, Rep. Na posted a photo of herself in a drum can on her social media with this message. Photo courtesy of Na Kyung-won’s Instagram capture

On April 16, Na Kyung-won, a People’s Power presidential primary candidate, criticized her competitor, former People’s Power leader Han Dong-hoon, as having “immature sense of justice.”

In an interview on SBS Radio, Rep. Na was asked if she could form an alliance with former leader Han if she became the final candidate for the People’s Power Party. She stated, “We can form an alliance later and, of course, if I become the candidate, we have to work together.” However, she added, “It is really inappropriate for Han, who says ‘the impeachment was justified,’ to become the candidate. He has done politics briefly, and I think this is a misplaced sense of justice.”

When asked about her earlier statement that “I must beat candidate Han,” she explained, “We have impeached the president from our own party twice. This is a national waste,” adding, “I thought there should be no impeachment, but since Han was at the forefront of it, I said we can’t work together on that issue.”

She further criticized, “Candidate Han said ‘let’s have a national victory,’ but our approval rating hasn’t improved since the impeachment. Is the situation that the Democratic Party and Progressive Party, the successor of the Unified Progressive Party, want the most really a national victory?”

Regarding the suggestion within the party to appoint acting president Han Duk-soo, she acknowledged the “desperation of those saying ‘Bring out Han Duk-soo,'” but pointed out, “It’s right for him to focus on resolving the customs war issue now.” She also criticized Han Duk-soo for not clearly stating his position on running for office, saying, “It’s very inappropriate,” and added, “It seems he has a hidden desire to run.”

Na also explained the reason for posting a “drum can photo” targeting former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, asking, “Do you know that young people in the community call this candidate a drum can?” She referred to the movie “The New World” to suggest that many people think he is scary. In response to the Democratic Party’s backlash, she commented, “It seems the drum can photo did hit a sore point.”
