Minju “Abolishing the R&D supplementary budget, stealing rice and giving away a pot with a hole in it.”

The Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol for announcing the abolition of the research and development advance feasibility study policy as an attitude of taking away all the rice used for cooking and giving a broken pot as a gift.

Spokesperson Hwang Jeong-ah stated in a written briefing that it seems like two conflicting selves, insulting the science and technology community as a ‘cartel’ that exploits R&D budgets and saying they will abolish the advance feasibility study now. She pointed out that if only the advance feasibility study is abolished without improving the system, there are concerns that instead of listening to the opinions of researchers in the field, one or two people within the government would allocate the budget as they please.

Furthermore, she urged that if President Yoon has truly changed his thoughts on R&D, he should apologize for the mistake first and respond to the supplementary budget for R&D requested by the science and technology community.
