As before, USFK forces to participate
The military will conduct the annual outdoor maneuver exercise, “2024 Hoguk Exercise,” aimed at enhancing joint operational capabilities and establishing military readiness, from the 20th of this month to the 8th of next month, lasting three weeks.
The Northwest Islands Defense Command conducted defense training, as part of the Hoguk Exercise, involving joint forces from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to prepare for various enemy provocation situations.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated on the 18th, “Realistic scenarios will be created considering ‘expected enemy provocations and attack patterns’ linked to the recent war dynamics, and joint forces will be integrated and operated in various domains of land, sea, and air to strengthen jointness and realism.”
The scale of the troops and equipment from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps participating in this year’s Hoguk Exercise has been expanded compared to last year. As before, USFK forces will also participate.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff emphasized, “Amid the continuous increase in North Korea’s actions such as propagating trash balloons, revealing nuclear facilities, and rhetorical threats against the South, our military will enhance its strong combat capabilities through this Hoguk Exercise and demonstrate the ability and will for a firm readiness posture.”
