“Lee Jae-myung and former governor Kim Kyung-soo will meet at the National Assembly on the 13th. Kim, who recently returned to the Democratic Party, is an independent figure within the opposition known as a pro-Moon Jae-in supporter. Lee is also scheduled to meet separately with other independent figures, including former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok.”

“A Democratic Party official remarked on the 12th, ‘The meeting is understood to be for party unity, and there is no specific agenda set.’ It was Lee who proposed the meeting to Kim. The meeting will be held without any aides.”

“Former Governor Kim Kyung-soo expressed on Facebook on the 29th of last month, ‘Many people have distanced themselves or left the party in shame following the local and general elections after the 2022 presidential election. We must sincerely apologize and enable them to return willingly.'”

“Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum stated on KBS Gwangju Jeonnam News7 on the 11th, ‘The Democratic Party is criticized for losing much of its traditional values like diversity, inclusiveness, and democracy while showing only so-called ‘unity.’ Meanwhile, on the 9th, former Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok criticized, ‘Those who flatter the leader do not bring in a single extra vote. It is frustrating to see attempts to divide and mockingly ask why they’re choosing to walk such a narrow path.'”
