“The Democratic Party of Korea demanded the immediate withdrawal of the fortress construction that cuts off the road and railway connecting South Korea in the area where the North Korean military demarcation line intersects, according to party leader Lee Jae-myung.
Lee, the party leader, said at the Supreme Council meeting that the endless confrontation between the two Koreas not only damages inter-Korean relations but also has a high possibility of making both Koreas losers.
Furthermore, North Korea emphasized that they realize there is nothing to gain from provocations and urged an immediate halt to the act of releasing trash-filled balloons, stating that no matter how many declarations are made, the South and North can never become entirely separate nations.
The South Korean government also pointed out that instead of matching North Korea’s moves in this chicken game, active efforts should be made to seek dialogue.
