Lee Jae-myung: “I expect the president to express a position that aligns with the public’s expectations.”

The Democratic Party of Korea expressed hope that President Yoon Suk-yeol’s upcoming national address would meet the expectations of the public.

Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, said during the party’s supreme council meeting today (6th), “As one of the citizens, I am looking forward to and will be observing President Yoon’s address.” He added, “I hope the President’s statement will align with the people’s expectations and sufficiently soothe and heal the wounded hearts of the citizens.”

Park Chan-dae, the floor leader, stated, “A national address that does not accept the special investigation into Kim Kun-hee is merely another ‘second apology with a dog.’ Whether it is a true national address or just a ‘national framework’ will depend on whether a stance aligning with fairness and common sense is presented,” he said.

Park further emphasized, “If anyone commits an illegal act, it is only fair and sensible that they be investigated and punished. If the address fails to include such a commitment, it should just be retracted,” raising his voice.

He continued, “Opposing the special investigation, shifting responsibility to the National Assembly, or evading key issues with evasive answers will only generate greater anger and resistance.” He added that “the President’s office and the People Power Party’s missteps are causing the President’s approval ratings to keep plummeting.”

Park also commented on the People Power Party’s call to broadcast Lee Jae-myung’s trial live, saying, “They should immediately cease threatening the judiciary and instead demand the live broadcast of the probe into Kim Kun-hee’s special investigation.”
