“Lee Jae-myung Guilty” Democratic Party’s Approval Rating Rises by 3.8%… “Support Base Consolidation” [Realmeter]

In a recent political party approval rating survey, the Democratic Party recorded a support rate of 47.5%, up 3.8 percentage points from the previous week, despite Representative Lee Jae-myung’s guilty verdict in the first trial of violating the Public Official Election Act. This suggests the ruling may have had a limited impact or even caused supporters to rally. The gap with the People Power Party remains at 15.9 percentage points, maintaining a difference outside the margin of error for the eighth week.

Conducted by Realmeter for Energy Economy from November 14 to 15, the survey targeted 1,003 adults nationwide. The People Power Party’s support rate increased by 0.9 percentage points to 31.6%. The Cho Kuk Innovation Party’s support dropped by 3.4 percentage points to 5.6%. Following were the Reform Party at 3.6% (down 0.4%), the Progressive Party at 0.9% (down 0.5%), and other parties at 2.0% (up 0.4%). The unaffiliated voter rate was 8.8%.

A Realmeter representative noted the significant increase in support for the Democratic Party, despite the verdict, indicating strong cohesion among its supporters. Meanwhile, the People Power Party remains at a strategic disadvantage, unable to capitalize fully on the situation due to internal divisions between pro-Yoon and pro-Han factions.

The survey was conducted using automatic response methods, with a sample confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points. More details can be found on the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission’s website.
