Kwon Seong-dong: “The Civil War Special Prosecutor, an Obstacle Removal for Lee Jae-myung’s Early Coronation” … Request for Reconsideration

Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the Special Prosecution Law on Rebellion, which passed the National Assembly’s plenary session led by the Democratic Party, stating that it aims to remove all obstacles to Lee Jae-myung’s early coronation at the cost of hundreds of billions of won.

At the emergency meeting of the task force, Floor Leader Kwon claimed that the Democratic Party’s removal of foreign exchange crimes and rebellion incitement and propaganda crimes from the special prosecution was a deceit towards the public and requested Acting President Choi Sang-mok to exercise the right to request reconsideration.

He further questioned, stating that through the cognizance investigation, crimes such as foreign exchange crimes and rebellion incitement and propaganda can be investigated involving the government, ruling party, and general public. He asked rhetorically who else they intend to investigate with the special prosecution when there are no more people left to investigate and arrest.

Additionally, he argued that the behavior of Lee Jae-myung’s faction reminds one of Nazi Germany, where all powers were to be consolidated in the hands of a ‘Fuhrer’ without distinction between administrative, legislative, and judicial branches. He asserted that the totalitarianism envisioned by the Nazis cannot be allowed in South Korea.
