Rep. Kwon Sang-eon of the Democratic Party of Korea expressed that prosecutorial reform and the death of former President Roh Moo-hyun are not the same language, and he feels great pain whenever the late president’s name is used as a political shield.
Representative Kwon, who is the son-in-law of former President Roh, spoke today (the 17th) on SBS Radio, noting that many people invoke the name and death of President Roh whenever politics are in crisis.
He particularly addressed the remarks by Rep. Jung Chung-rae, which linked President Roh’s death to prosecutorial reform, acknowledging the sentiment behind them, yet emphasizing the mixed emotions he and his spouse feel whenever the late president’s name is misused.
Kwon further pointed out the problematic atmosphere where supporting a particular political stance or reform is perceived as following President Roh’s politics, while opposing it labels someone an opponent or betrayer of President Roh, stating that this is not right.
