Kweon Seong-dong on the ‘Democratic Party Supreme Court Hearing’: “A Signal of Triumvirate Domination and Dictatorial Politics”

Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party’s decision to hold a hearing on the “judiciary’s alleged interference in the presidential election,” calling it “the full-scale signal of Lee Jae-myung’s style of dictatorial politics, which aims to change the separation of powers into the domination of powers.”

Kwon held an emergency meeting with party members of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee, pointing out that this move is a “barbaric parliamentary coup aiming to depict the Supreme Court as a criminal organization for Lee Jae-myung’s presidential ambitions.”

Regarding Chief Justice Cho and other Supreme Court justices’ decision not to attend the hearing, Kwon commented that it was “a very sensible decision to protect their honor as judges and to uphold the independence of the judiciary,” urging them to “never surrender.”

He also criticized the Democratic Party’s push to revise the Public Official Election Act by removing the component of ‘action’ from the requirements for false information disclosure, arguing that “now, Lee Jae-myung’s followers are blatantly starting to manufacture ‘Lee Jae-myung acquittal laws.'”
