Seoul – Minister of Unification Kim Young-ho urged North Korea to respond to President Yoon Suk-yeol’s ‘8.15 Unification Doctrine,’ saying that the inter-Korean liaison office and communication lines in the East and West seas should be resumed.

Minister Kim held a briefing on the ‘8.15 Unification Doctrine’ at the Seoul Government Complex on this day and stated, “Through the inter-Korean working-level ‘dialogue committee’ proposed by President Yoon Suk-yeol, issues such as denuclearization, humanitarian issues, and inter-Korean exchanges can be addressed.”

President Yoon Suk-yeol presented the ‘8.15 Unification Doctrine,’ which includes a concrete action plan to achieve unification based on liberal democracy to commemorate the 79th Liberation Day on August 15. It is characterized by succession from the 1994 National Community Unification Plan, with adjustments to the current situation. President Yoon also proposed the establishment of an inter-Korean dialogue committee to discuss any issues.

Minister Kim mentioned that the “Inter-Korean Relations Development Commission,” chaired by the Minister of Unification and consisting of vice ministers of related ministries and civilian experts, will soon hold discussions to thoroughly plan follow-up measures for implementing the Unification Doctrine.
