Democratic Party Chief Campaign Director Jeong Eun-kyeong stated today (12th) regarding her joining the campaign, “I felt the need to participate because I believe that a change in government is necessary to end the turmoil.”

Jeong, who served as the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) under the Moon Jae-in administration, appeared on MBC Radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus’ and remarked, “If there hadn’t been turmoil, I would not have considered taking on the role of campaign director or entering politics.”

Before joining the campaign, Jeong was a clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Seoul National University College of Medicine. When asked about the possibility of serving as the Minister of Health and Welfare if Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung is elected, she said, “If the government changes, I plan to return to my daily life and my university.”

Regarding solutions to the confusion in the medical field, including the increase in medical school quotas, Jeong commented, “The medical environment is changing with hyper-aging, advancements in medical technology, and soaring medical expenses. It’s important to create a medical reform plan and roadmap that look 20-30 years into the future.”
