The leader of the Democratic Party, Jung Cheong-rae, stated in the National Assembly that it is questionable whether dialogue is possible with forces that attempted to murder numerous innocent people, and emphasized “no” as his response.
On the 27th, on social media, Jung addressed the newly elected leader of the People Power Party, Jang Dong-hyuk, noting that a faction advocating for “Yoon Again” has been elected into the leadership. He posed five questions that the new party leader should answer.
First, he questioned whether advocating for Yoon Seok-youl to play the role of a spiritual backbone of the party again was right, whether the impeachment or dismissal of Yoon Seok-youl was wrong, and whether the declaration of martial law rebellion was a good thing.
He also queried about the “Roh Sang-won Notebook,” asking if the documented plans to murder innocent citizens were deemed righteous and whether the people listed deserved to die, as well as whether he supports the notebook.
Jung claimed that if Yoon Seok-youl’s rebellion had succeeded, both President Lee Jae-myung and he would have been dead, and many would have died in the most miserable and horrifying ways.
He continued by saying Yoon Seok-youl’s martial law was akin to killing the parliamentary spirit of fighting with words rather than swords, questioning whether dialogue is truly possible with forces that tried to murder numerous innocent people within the National Assembly.
Previously in a parliamentary meeting, Jung criticized the People Power Party, stating that they do not seem to be willing to compete sincerely. He argued that a healthy opposition is necessary for a healthy ruling party and constructive competition, but currently, there is no opposition in South Korea, only an inflation of far-right forces.
