In response to Kim Sang-wook expressing the opinion that a special investigation is needed, criticisms emerged such as “Are we Hitler?” and “You learned politics the wrong way.”

During a recent meeting of the People Power Party, tensions rose as lawmakers debated controversial topics. Representative Kim Sang-wook, who supports impeachment, faced harsh criticism which led some pro-Han Dong-hoon lawmakers to walk out in protest.

During the session, Kim Sang-wook took the stand to express his views on establishing an independent investigation related to the state of emergency. This prompted a public rebuttal from those opposed to such an investigation. Representative Kim Dae-sik made strong remarks, questioning if the lawmakers were followers of authoritarian figures and admonishing Kim Sang-wook for his political approach. He also controversially stated, “Don’t call me brother anymore.”

In a rare occurrence, specific criticisms about lawmakers’ personal standings were made, causing some pro-Han lawmakers, including Jung Sung-guk, Han Ji-ah, and Ko Dong-jin, to exit the session in protest. Many felt such personal attacks were inappropriate. One representative remarked that it felt like a personal attack against Kim Sang-wook.

Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong commented to the press that personal remarks in a public forum were inappropriate. Meanwhile, Kim Dae-sik justified his comments as fraternal advice, insisting that it’s important not to label members as followers of authoritarian regimes.

After the meeting, Kim Sang-wook stated that he felt pressure, but reaffirmed his stance on the necessity of the independent investigation, despite facing numerous opposing arguments from fellow lawmakers.
