Hong Joon-pyo: “It would be desirable for Jang Dong-hyuk to voluntarily dissolve and support the eradication and rebuilding efforts of Yoon and Han Dong-hoon… cannot avoid forced dissolution.”

(Seoul=News1) Senior Reporter Park Tae-hoon = Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo advised Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, that dissolving the party is inevitable and it would be better to start anew.

On the 6th, Hong posted on his social media, “First Lady Kim Geon-hee is embroiled in scandals daily, and former President Yoon Seok-yeol is disappointing the public with behavior deemed unbecoming of a former president in court.”

In this context, he found it sympathetic that “Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, is struggling, declaring ‘war against the Lee Jae-myung regime,’ but it seems he is not strong enough to cover up the sins committed by the Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hee group.”

Regarding the Democratic Party of Korea’s preparation to file for the dissolution of the unconstitutional People Power Party, he commented, “Looking at the United Progressive Party case, it doesn’t seem like something that will be resolved quickly, but the question is whether it will happen before next year’s local elections or the 23rd general elections in 2028.” He added, “If Chu Kyung-ho is indicted and involvement of entities like the Unification Church and Shincheonji in the elections is confirmed in the Kwon Seong-dong case, the dissolution of the party is inevitable.”

Former Mayor Hong stated, “If the party faces a dissolution request before the 23rd general elections, a crushing defeat at the elections is certain. In that case, it is preferable for the party to voluntarily dissolve, remove the forces of former President Yoon and Han Dong-hoon, who led to the collapse of the Yoon administration, and start afresh to rebuild the conservative camp.”

In conclusion, he warned the Jang Dong-hyuk leadership that “trying to carry an ‘afflicted part’ won’t benefit them,” suggesting that breaking away completely from politics influenced by prosecution and prosecution-related regimes and reestablishing as a traditional conservative force is the only way to survive.
