Hong Joon-pyo: “If the ruling party (Democratic Party) fails to protect the president and disintegrates, Yoon Jung-dae will make up his mind.”

Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, stated, “If the ruling party cannot protect the president and is in disarray, President Yoon may have no choice but to make a major decision.” In a Facebook post on the 26th, Mayor Hong wrote that “When the National Assembly opens in June, an overwhelming number of opposition lawmakers and strong opposition parties will concentrate their attacks on the Yoon administration.”

In addition, the opposition parties, including the Democratic Party, have announced a re-vote on the Chea Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor’s Act at the main session of the National Assembly on the 28th, while four members of the People Power Party (Ahn Cheol-soo, Yoo Yi-dong, Kim Woong, and Choi Jae-hyung) publicly expressed their support for the special prosecutor’s law, responding to this matter.

He criticized, “When the ruling party and the People Power Party fail to protect Yoon administration and are in disarray, Yoon will have no choice,” and continued, “If so, the People Power Party will not even become the ruling party and may even become a minority party or a party of miscellaneous characters.”

He also wrote, “Politics is a game of imagination,” stating, “A party led by those who only pursue immediate gains and personal interests is bound to walk the path of extinction.”

Mayor Hong emphasized, “It is absurd for this party, which has been around for over 30 years, to face confusion due to some unidentified outsiders,” and said, “Only by nurturing self-sufficiency can we find a way forward.”
