“[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace is set to sign the third contract with the Polish government for the domestic multiple rocket launcher ‘Chunmoo.’
According to industry insiders and foreign media reports from Poland on the 29th, Hanwha Aerospace and the Polish government are expected to sign the third implementation contract for Chunmoo as early as this afternoon (local time).
Władysław Marcin Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Polish Minister of National Defense, announced on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), “We have very good news for Poland’s security and the arms industry,” stating that “WB Electronics and Hanwha Aerospace will enter into a cooperation agreement. They will begin the construction of a missile production plant for Homar-K in Poland.”
WB Electronics is Poland’s largest private defense company. Last September, Hanwha Aero and the WB Group reached a final agreement to establish a local joint venture (JV), ‘Hanwha WB Advanced Systems,’ for the production of Chunmoo guided missiles.
Homar-K is a Polish model based on South Korea’s Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher. Poland has already made large-scale acquisitions of the Chunmoo launch system in 2022 and 2024. The first implementation contract between Poland and Hanwha Aerospace in November 2022 was valued at 5.03 trillion won, while the second contract in April 2024 was valued at 2.2 trillion won.
Kang Hoon-sik, the Presidential Chief of Staff, is also expected to attend the signing ceremony. The Presidential Office announced his departure to the media earlier this morning. Although Kang’s specific destinations and schedule have not been disclosed, his visit is believed to be aimed at supporting the export orders of the defense industry.”
