[Financial News] Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, stressed on the 23rd that the demands of the public concerning Kim Keon-hee should be addressed before the first-instance ruling for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, scheduled for next month.

Han stated during an expanded bureau meeting at the National Assembly that “if the current issues surrounding Mrs. Kim continue to be the top dissatisfaction when citizens gather, the public sentiment that leaves the Democratic Party will not come to us.”

Regarding Lee’s upcoming first-instance ruling next month, Han remarked, “Many citizens will realize that the Democratic Party should not govern. In such circumstances, the Democratic Party will further intensify its actions that go against the public sentiment and disrupt constitutional order,” but asked rhetorically, “What should our stance be at that time?”

Han also announced the progress of the special inspector recommendation process. Accordingly, he urged the Democratic Party to proceed with recommending directors for the North Korean Human Rights Foundation, linked to this issue.

Han declared, “We have repeatedly promised the public that we will proceed with the special inspector recommendation process,” and “I strongly ask the Democratic Party to recommend directors for the North Korean Human Rights Foundation.”

He added, “Not doing so can only be interpreted as the Democratic Party being satisfied with the current level of human rights in North Korea.”

Han continued, saying, “The condition that recommending directors for the North Korean Human Rights Foundation is a prerequisite for a special inspector recommendation is not easily agreed upon in the current situation,” and stated his intention to strongly demand the Democratic Party suggest directors for the foundation and eventually implement it. However, he clarified, “We will not postpone the process of the special inspector recommendation for this.”

Han emphasized, “This is not a promise with the Democratic Party but a promise with the public,” and mentioned that during talks with President Yoon Suk-yeol, he also committed to practically conducting the special inspector process.
