“Government Network Paralysis Incident”… Ruling Party Counterattacks With “Negligence of Duty by Yoon Administration”

The Democratic Party criticized the Yoon administration for failing to address repeated incidents related to data center fires, which led to a government computer network outage following a fire at the National Information Resources Service on the 29th. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused to the public, the Democratic Party blamed the Yoon administration for neglecting to implement improvements after similar incidents, such as the 2022 KakaoTalk outage and the 2023 administrative network outage.

Democratic Party figures, including Representative Jung Cheong-rae and Supreme Council member Lee Eon-ju, emphasized President Lee Jae-myung’s sincere apology and commitment to resolving the issue, contrasting it with the former President Yoon Seok-youl’s handling. They argued that the root cause lies with the Yoon administration’s inaction over the past three years, rather than the newly inaugurated government.

They also criticized the People’s Power Party’s call for the resignation of the Minister of the Interior and Safety, equating it to targeting the response leader instead of addressing the long-standing issues created by negligence during the previous administration. Kim Byung-joo highlighted that necessary budget allocations for system redundancy and disaster recovery systems were ignored by Yoon and Lee Sang-min, and stressed the importance of making preventive investments to avoid future problems.
