“‘Expulsion Decision’ Kim Byung-gi Requests Reconsideration: ‘Allegations Cannot Become Facts'”

“Is it really hard to ask for one month… What is the reason for such cruelty?”

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Nam-kwon = On the 13th, Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Byung-ki announced that he would appeal for a retrial against the party’s Ethics Tribunal’s decision to expel him over allegations of misconduct.

Immediately after the expulsion decision, Kim posted on Facebook, claiming, “Allegations cannot become facts.”

He questioned, “Was it so difficult to ask to wait just for a month? What is the reason for such cruelty?”

The Ethics Tribunal stated that following a meeting that lasted until the previous night, they comprehensively considered factors such as the statute of limitations on disciplinary measures and the severity of the matter before deciding on the expulsion.

Lawmaker Kim is under suspicion for various issues, including high-end meals with Coupang representatives, receiving nominations through illicit donations, intervening in his second son’s transfer to Soongsil University, and his spouse’s alleged misuse of district office operational funds for private purposes.
