Shin Ji-ho, the Vice President of Strategic Planning of the People Power Party, who is affiliated with the faction supporting Han Dong-hoon, called for a “responsible explanation” from Supreme Council member Kim Min-jeon on the 26th. This comes after reports emerged that the party allegedly intended to sue those posting demands for Han Dong-hoon’s resignation. Kim had mentioned receiving text message bombs requesting his resignation and suggested that those sending such texts should also be reported. This interpretive stance is seen as a counterattack by the faction supportive of Han against the faction supporting Yoon Seok-yeol.
Shin expressed his demands in a Facebook post that morning. He questioned the basis of Kim’s statements, which claimed to have seen such a report, and she stated she would publicly apologize if she couldn’t substantiate her claims in the next meeting.
After a meeting, Kim reportedly posted the article in the main chat room of the Supreme Council, urging for a correction if there was an error. Shin noted that the media confirmed the article was not written with that implication.
He questioned Kim’s understanding of the article, suggesting if she read it incorrectly, it could have been clarified in pre-meetings rather than being hastily addressed.
Shin expressed regret that such matters were being written about, but felt it necessary to address public disturbances and called for a responsible explanation in the upcoming council meeting. Furthermore, he requested clarification on comments made during gatherings on the 11th and 14th of the month and whether those actions were inappropriate.
Previously, Supreme Council member Kim Min-jeon had, during a public session, remarked on reports suggesting the party’s intention to sue those demanding Han Dong-hoon’s resignation and requested that any related individuals who flooded her with text messages also be reported. Han Dong-hoon responded by advising to verify facts before speaking.
